I just got home from work and found myself running directly to my Keurig. This seems to be a trend lately. I have not always been a coffee drinker. I started drinking it about 6 years ago when I was working 2 jobs and needed a pick me up. Coffee offered me many flavors of pick me ups back then, mostly from Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. Working the two jobs I never realized how much it can cost to "drink" out every day. When money started to get tight I had to look for an alternative.
I was living with a room mate who was not a coffee drinker and making a pot of coffee with a traditional drip coffee maker was not going to be very cost effective. The Keurig just started gaining popularity with the "single cup" coffee drinker, but was very expensive. I was losing hope on my coffee addiction and cut down to just drinking it at the office.
Christmas 2010 came around and I was surprised with my very own Keurig. I was back in the coffee game! Today my Keurig has seen a lot of years of use. I use it almost daily to brew up some tasty cups of joe. It saves me the hassle of "drinking out" everyday which in return saves me major moolah. You can make yourself the same types of drinks you would purchase from a coffee shop at a fraction of the cost.
Now you are probably thinking to yourself, "Aren't K-Cups expensive?". The answer is sometimes, but there are other ways. I purchased a little cup that mimics the K-Cup which allows you to add your own coffee grounds. This is very cost effective and gives you the opportunity to keep drinking your favorite brands. I also use this cup for loose teas which is very handy at times.

Another way to save on the K-Cups is to look for samples and giveaways. I have noticed coffee company's love to give away free samples of their K-Cups. In the last year alone I have gotten numerous boxes of K-Cups for free to sample. Everything from tea, to cappuccino and back again has been sent out. I now keep a little coffee nook in my kitchen stocked with all these samples. It also reminds me why it is better to make my coffee at home then it is to go out and spend the money. It makes me smile when I walk in the door every night. One cup is all it takes and my addiction is fed.
Now there you have it. Coffee ruling your world on a budget. Do you have a coffee addiction? How do you feed it? Do you keep a coffee nook? If you do send me pictures! I need to organize mine more and add some things. Maybe your pictures will inspire me to get it done! Happy Thursday everyone!
